BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2
The all-terrain benchmark — trail-tough construction that still commutes in comfort for trucks and SUVs that leave the road.
The verdict
The KO2 is the all-terrain tire other all-terrains are compared to. Its race-bred sidewall and cut-resistant compound shrug off rocks and brush, while the aggressive shoulder lugs claw through mud and loose dirt. Crucially, it does this without turning highway driving into a chore — it's one of the few aggressive A/Ts that stays reasonably quiet and composed on pavement.
Pros
- Exceptional off-road durability and puncture resistance
- Confident grip on mud, gravel, and loose dirt
- Surprisingly livable on the highway
- Long tread life for an aggressive all-terrain
Cons
- Heavier and louder than a highway tire
- Fuel economy takes a measurable hit
How we tested this tire
We mounted KO2s on a half-ton pickup and a midsize 4x4 for a season of mixed use — highway commuting, Mojave Desert trails, and a Rocky Mountain winter. We scored off-road grip on rock, sand, and mud; measured on-road noise and tracking; and checked the sidewalls after a week of desert abuse for cuts and chunking.

Took my Tacoma through Moab on these and the sidewalls look new. On the highway they hum a little but nothing I can't live with. Best A/T I've run.
Got me through a Colorado winter on a 4Runner without needing a winter set. Handled packed snow and slush great.
Tough as nails off-road. Knocked one star because my mpg dropped about 2 and they need a careful balance. Expected trade-offs for an A/T.
Frequently asked questions
Are KO2s too loud for a daily driver?+
They're louder than a highway tire, but quieter than you'd expect from the aggressive tread. Most drivers find them perfectly livable on pavement. They do hum at certain speeds — that's the trade-off for off-road grip.
Do they balance and ride well on a daily-driven truck?+
Yes, with one caveat: have them road-force balanced. A proper balance eliminates most vibration. Done right, the highway ride is stable and composed for an A/T.
How do they handle snow?+
The 3PMSF rating is real — they handle light and moderate snow confidently. Deep powder and ice aren't their specialty (a dedicated winter or mud-terrain is better there), but for most truck owners they're a solid four-season tire.
